On August 3, 2013, seventeen-year-old Alexis Murphy embarked on a short journey to Lynchburg from her home in Shipman, Virginia. She was last seen at a Liberty Gas Station in Lovingston that evening. The police identified 48-year-old Randy Taylor as their primary suspect and soon recovered evidence linking him to Alexis’ disappearance. He was arrested on May 1, 2014 and put on trial for murder, where the jury found guilty after just over one week of deliberation. The judge sentenced Taylor to two life sentences. In an unexpected turn of events, he was also connected to the mysterious disappearance of Virginia teenager Samantha Clarke four years prior.
