It was January 15, 1997 and 118 members of the East Coast Crip Gang, organized by Wilburt Pew, also known as Lil Evil, were on the hunt. They were lying in wait for a bus full of Bloods who were traversing their turf without warning. But they didn't count on Corie Williams, a straight-A student from Compton's Centennial High School, getting caught in the crossfire. His death would become another tragic statistic in South Central Los Angeles' ceaseless cycle of violence.
