Witnesses lined up implicating Johnson as the shooter and suspicions were turned to Pew and Amato - accused of conspiring together to commit the crime. John Grissom (a high school classmate of Amato) and Natasha Barnum (Pew's girlfriend at the time of the shooting) testified to seeing Amato with a group of people at an intersection. Warren Hardy, living less than a block away, was the key witness against Amato. On January 15th 1997, justice found Amato guilty in South Central Los Angeles' cycle of violence.
